Artist of the Week: Jack White
Jack "Of All Trades" White
Jack White, is a Jack of All Trades. Mostly all that has been in the news about Jack is his recent break-up with The Whit Stripes. However Jack mentioned in an interview that was broadcasted on NPR radio that The White Stripes have not been apart of his life for a while.
Jack has had his hand in many various projects as of late. Recently, he produced the hard rockin', but still at it 73 year old, Wanda Jackson's album, The Party Ain't Over.
It past years, Jack has also produced legendary country singer, Loretta Lynn's album, Van Lear Rose, that won 2 Grammy awards.
More so these days, Jack has been taking care of business at his record store and label, Third Man Records. All while trying to get his upholstery shop together again. Upholstery work was something Jack used to do in Detroit, when he had a company called, Third Man Upholstery.
As if that were not enough on Jack's plate, he is currently working on producing an album with the auctioneering and sounds of Jerry King. It's a record that has Jerry King talking and teaching people how to auction. Jack said in an interview that he loves different and unique things that stray away from a beaten path and auctioneering is one of those things. Jack also said that an auctioneer is a uniquely American thing and that it feels so Southern like.
Well, if that ain't something totally different and unique, I don't know what is. You can find Jerry King's 45 or digital download on Third Man Records.
