Songs of the Week:  My Music Listening Diary
                                             March 6, 2011

Alright, the music listening diary is something new I would like to add to The Crescendo. The music listening diary series is to be similar if you were to tear a page out of your diary and explain songs that best describe your life as of right now or it can just simply be a song playlist of what's currently on your iPod or iTunes.  And I would like to start off the series with my own personal music listening diary.

All righty, so here's my music listening diary.  It's a combination of songs that I love to listen to at least once a day or songs that currently describe my life.  If you know me I've never been one to open up and say how I feel or express my opinion.  But if you have been reading my blog lately you've noticed how I have been preaching a lot about how music artists should tell the truth in their songwriting...well I feel like I would be a hypocrite if I didn't tell the truth in my music listening diary, so I am going to go out on a limb here and be completely honest.  So, I hope y'all respect that and love the music that I have selected.

Adam Hood: "A Million Miles Away"
~ This song is at the top of my diary list, because it's the most personal to me.  It fits me to a "T", as of right now, because, I too have been tired and it has made me mean and I have spoken some cruel words and done some cruel things to certain people lately.  Those people know who they are and I am sorry for the things I did and did not say.

The Wallflowers:  "One Headlight"
~ I just love to listen to this song everyday, because it reminds me that I need to just try a little, because there's got to be something better than in the middle.

Charla Corn:  "Next to You"
~ I can't wait till that day when I can stop saying, "I just can't wait for that day when I wake-up next to you", because I'll be next to you.

Brian Keane:  "Forbidden"
~   This a deep, dark song that I completely relate to and here's how I have been feeling... with my twist on the lyrics:  I ain't no form of temptation, I ain't the serpent or the fruit...and you should have trust in your judgment, because I do, so quit asking others what I believe.  Cause, I ain't forbidden by our savior, I am only forbidden by you.

Bleu Edmondson:  "The Echo"
~ I list to this song almost everyday, because it has amazing lyrics.  The song is like a Red Dirt rap.  My favorite lyrics: "with the sinners and the saints and the suicide girls, passion into darkness, and the pawn shop pearls", "the precious drop of sweat running down your back, like a southbound train burning down the track", and "as this dirty city sleeps tonight to the Gutterrat serenade".

Reckless Kelly:  "I Never Liked St. Valentine"
~ I discovered this song a couple of days ago and I wished I had it on Valentine's Day.  Cause, St. Patrick's Day and all the other saints...their okay.  At least they don't come around once a year to remind me that I don't have a Valentine.

Turnpike Troubadours:  "7 & 7 "
~ Yep, I too have been a fool in a grocery store aisle, to only smile and turn my shopping cart around and walk away.

Radney Foster:  "I'm In"
~ The original singer/songwriter of this song of "I'm In" is Radney Foster, NOT to be confused with Keith Urban singing this song on Nashville country's mainstream stuff.  But if I had the guts to tell this one certain person something...I would say, "if you need a lover and a friend, baby I'm in.  I'm in."  So, baby I'll be right here.  You just take your time, as you walk on by.  So, when you decide you want me...you don't even have to ask, 'cause you know what...baby I'm in.

Stephen Pointer Band:  "State of Mind"
~ Well, I too have been spending some time thinking about my life...and I've walked the streets down to the valley, wasting all my time and you know what...baby it's ALL just a state of mind.

If any of y'all would like to message me your own music listening diaries...I would be more than glad to post them on my blog sometime.  We don't have to use your real name...we can give you a fake name or an alias like, "Tater Salad" or something. lol
I hope you enjoyed the first of hopefully many music diary entries... and I look forward to hearing from y'all about your music diaries!!!
~ Peace, Happiness and Music~

I only have 3 rules:
1)Nothing that would be offensive to anyone.
2) Nothing too vulgar.
3) Preferably NO Nashville country music.
