ACM Awards Show Hit or Bust?

I don't know what to think about the ACM Awards this year.  I only watched the first probably 30-minutes of it, but that was way too much for me.  I mean seriously, where have my country music gone?  To the gutter that's where!

The opening skit with Blake Shelton the co-host of the ACM Awards was serenading what was supposed to look like Miranda Lambert was actually the other co-host of the ACM Awards, Reba.  The camera footage of Miranda Lambert's face after that little episode, look liked she didn't like that skit too well.  I can't really blame her that was not too funny if you ask me.

Brad Paisley and Alabama ehh... it was not all that great.  Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler's performance was...well, I ain't gonna lie, pretty shoty!  Ohh...then I saw Taylor Swift's performance of her new single, "Mean".  I have to say that is probably the most country song I have ever heard her sing and write.  I'm not saying that it's exactly 'country', 'country', but that's probably about as close as she's ever going to get to writing a country song.

I saw on Youtube some other performances like Rihanna and Jennifer Nettles with the song, "California King".  The words to the song were kind of pretty, but the music sucked.  The music sounded just like any other bubblegum pop song that tries to pose as a country song on FM country radio.  However the performance of those two was just all right.  I mean Rihanna you could barely hear her and Jennifer Nettles well it's kind of hard not to hear her loud voice. Unless it was the sound itself on the Youtube video...that's another sound technician failure, right there.

Overall, I'm very disappointed with the ACM Awards this year.  Or maybe it's not the ACM Awards show that I'm really disappointed with, but the lack of good and real country music.  Yep, that's exactly it!  Country music at least in Nashville, Tennessee has rolled into a roadside gutter and can't get out!
