Some Ska-Punk Anyone? ... Anyone? ... Anyone? ... Hmm...Soot Yourself!!!

Artist of the Week:  Reel Big Fish

Emmm....yeah...this is my favorite Ska-Punk band.  What's ska-punk, you ask?  Well, I'm so glad you were wondering, because Ska-Punk was created in Jamaica in the 1950s and was the precursor to Rocksteady and Reggae.  Ska-Punk combines the elements of Caribbean Mento and Calypso with American Jazz and Rhythm and Blues.

Reel Big Fish is a Southern California Ska-Punk band that mangaed to go mainstream in the mid-90s when Ska-Punk was becoming popular in North America.  Their break out single, Sell Out, became a break out single in the summer of 1997 and was a radio and MTV favorite.

Following their milestone achievement of rising up from the underground and going mainstream; Reel Big Fish self-released a few more albums and a couple of more singles like:  Take On Me and the Set Up (You Need This) before signing a contract with Jive Records in Fall 2001.

The rest is history and all you need to know is that Reel Big Fish still tours today, playing over 250 shows a year.  So, catch a show or check out their new music when you can, because this band plays upbeat, feel good music that will put you in a better mood!
