CD Review for Ben Kweller's "Go Fly A Kite"

Artist Info:  Current Austin, Texas resident, Ben Kweller, 31, is a renaissance music man.  He loves to play music, compose music, listen to music, analyze music, think about music, watch music and record music.  Kweller is a fabulous singer-songwriter, who is mainly rock n’ roll, but also leans toward folk, country, blues, indie and punk-rock influences.  Fun fact:  Kweller was in the 1990s sugar metal band, Radish, with John David Kent.  Yes, that John David Kent from John David Kent and The Dumb Angels.

Album Description:  This is Kweller’s fifth album under his own name and first release by his own label The Noise Company.  Every track is in some way a reflection of Kweller’s coming of age.  The album comes out swinging for the fences with the first track, “Mean To Me”, which is basically saying if you like me…stay and if you don’t like me…who really cares and you can go away.  Track four “Gossip” is an ode to how no matter what you do…gossip is going to fly and it’s going to get you down, but fly your bird high in the air and walk away.  Track nine “Time Will Save The Day” is a reflection of Kweller’s yesterdays and it’s an encouraging song that motivates you to keep going, because it all works out in the end.
