Music News for the Week of January 30-February 3
  • White Stripes Call It Quits! (Shut the Front Door!)
    - After a 13-year run as the White Stripes, a duo made up of Jack and Meg White, has come to a finish.  The duo announced on their website on 2/2/11 that they were splitting.  The news release says that they are splitting, because, "It is for a myriad of reasons.  But mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way."  Their official news release stated this,  "The White Stripes do not not belong to Meg and Jack anymore.  The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want.  The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to.  Thank you for sharing this experience.  Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful."  This is a sad moment for music, they will truly be missed!  Don't fret just, yet!  The White Stripes will continue to issue unreleased music.
  • Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘sudden illness’ and his relation to Justin Bieber?
    - Ozzy canceled a show in Reno, Nevada, Sunday, January 30, 2011 due to a ‘sudden illness’ that has not been released to what it was.
    -Ozzy Osbourne will appear in a Superbowl TV ad this weekend with teen idol, Justin Bieber.

  • Carrie’s in the Movies
    - Carrie Underwood will make her first ever appearance in a feature film that is based on an inspirational true story.  The movie is called, “Soul Surfer” and it will premiere in movie theaters April 8, 2011.
  •  Amos Lee’s New Album Tops Billboard’s 200 Album Chart
    - Amos Lee’s new album, “Mission Bell”, has reached #1 and a career-high sells week, selling over 40,000 copies. (According to Billboard’s 200 album chart)
    - Along with Amos Lee the album features artists such as:  Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Priscilla Ahn, Pieta Brown, and Calexico.

  • It’s Lady A’s SuperBowl!
    - So, you’re sitting watching this Sunday’s SuperBowl and you wonder what in the world is that song playing on the pre-game radio coverage.  Well, folks that would be a remix version of Lady Antebellum’s song, “Stars Tonight”.  Highlights from the Packer’s and Steeler’s winning seasons, will kick-off the official NFL pre-game radio coverage on more than 640 stations in the Westwood One Network.  Immediately, following the conclusion of the SuperBowl, Fox channel, will air a new episode of the famed TV show, Glee.  The cast of Glee will perform Lady Antebellum’s song, “Need You Now”.
  • The Grammy’s
    - The Grammy’s will air on CBS, February 13, 2011 from, L.A. 
    - Some of the Performances Include:  Drake and Rihana, Cee Lo Green, Gwyenth Paltrow, and the Jim Henson Company Puppets.
    - Some of the Presenters Include:  Norah Jones, LL Cool J, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj, Dierks Bentley, and Blake Shelton.
  •   Zac Brown and Wife Welcome New Baby
    - Baby Girl, Joni Mason Brown, was born Wednesday, February 02, 2011, near the home of The Browns in Atlanta, Georgia.  She weighed in at 7lbs. and 14 oz.
    - This will be the 4th child of The Browns'.
    - Other children:  4yr. old, Justice; 2 yr. old, Lucy; and 1 yr. old, Georgia. (All girls!!!)
     
  • World’s Top Ukulele Player
    - Jake Shimabukuro is the world’s top Ukulele player.
    - His latest album was released in January called, “Peace Love Ukulele”

    - On Saturday, February 5, 2011, CMT Crossroad’s will air Live from Pepsi SuperBowl Fan Jam in Dallas, Texas.

  • “Days Go By” v.s. “It’s All About Tonight”
    - So, Blair Garner, an American Radio Personality, that hosts the radio show, After Midnight with Blair Garner, believes that Keith Urban’s song, “ Days Go By” sounds a lot like Blake Shelton’s song, “It’s All About Tonight”.  Who thinks he’s crazy?  Give me a shout and leave a comment below and tell me what you think.  Also here’s a link with Blair Garner pleading his case about this matter:
