Artist of the Week:  Wynn Varble

The oldest and the most stubbornest son of a gun, but probably the one with the most musical accreditation, was eliminated this past Friday off of the show, CMT's Next Superstar.  

Wynn Varble truly proved himself on the show as being one of a kind and has won the heart's of country music fans.  At least he won over my heart with his original songwritings and down-to-earth redneck habits.  Though his originality and one of a kindness was not enough to advance him to the next round.

Even though I pretty much despise a lot of Nashville country music, I still watched the show.  Wynn Varble was my favorite and I was really pullin' for him to win it all.

Matt Serletic, a Nashville record producer, was one of the judges on the show and he kept asking Wynn if he could sell out arenas with being a concert headliner.  Wynn's witty comment was that, "There was once a man who said, you might be a redneck if...and he sells out all kinds of arenas and I think he does a pretty damn good job at it."  

I believe Wynn could definitely sell out arenas.  He's witty, charming and in the words of Big Kenny, the other half of Big & Rich, he's one songwriting son of bi***.  Yep, Wynn most definitely has a knack for writing songs that are honest, true and down right funny as hell.

Wynn has actually wrote songs for many Nashville country artists:  Easton Corbin's, A Little More Country Than That, Darryl Worley's, Sounds Like Life to Me, and Brad Paisley's, Waitin' On a Woman, along with countless other songs for many other Nashville country artists.


I was extremely disappointed and upset to see Wynn go off the show this past Friday, but I hope this show helps country music fans, Nashville record producers and etc. see that country music desperately needs someone like Wynn Varble.  A true homegrown country redneck that has songs and a personality that are truly one of a kind. 

By the way, stealing one of Wynn's favorite lines, in regards to Wynn's elimination of CMT's Next Superstar...I'm going to have to call Bullshit on that one.
