CD Review:  Stone Rollin'

Classy, sultry, soulful, old school and very well done.  These are just some of my impressions of Raphael Saadiq's new album, Stone Rollin', that will be released on May 10, 2011.  Saadiq's new record captures musical genres that of R&B, soul, and jazz.  The whole album is a delight, but my favorite tracks on the 10 track album are 1, 3, 4, 5,6 and 9.

The beats of the first song about gave me a heart attack.  It was a song titled, "Heart Attack".  It's a very upbeat, let's dance, sing along, or go cruise in the car down the road with the bass blaring type of song.  Absolutely loved it!  

The third track, "Radio", is just a fun upbeat, lyrical type of song.  

Track four, "Over You", is a song you need to crank up the volume to and let the bass blare!  

"Stone Rollin" is track five  and is my number one favorite on the album.  I have played this song on two of my radio DJ show fills.  It is definitely an old school, jazzy and soulful song.  Check out the official music video below of the song.

"Day Dreams" is track six on the album and is my runner-up favorite on the album.  Great soulful lyrics and very old school music.  

Track nine, "Good Man" , is probably somewhere in my top five favorites songs on the album.  Its just a song you simply just have to listen to, because at the end of the song you'll being thinking that poor, poor good man.

Overall, an excellent soulful, good times feelin' record that will captivate you and make you feel like you are listening to some vintage music from decades ago.  Saadiq, definitely pulls off that old school feel, but with a modern twist of lyrics and music.  

I give Stone Rollin' an A+.
