Why Radio is For People That Don't Listen to Music!

Radio is for people that don't listen to music!

Yeah, when I heard this phrase I thought, what?!  Shut the front door!!!  I heard Scott Copeland say this once on his Scott Copeland Radio Hours Show and when he rambled on explaining what he meant by this phrase, he made sense.

Commercial radio stations only play hits or what's new and hot in mainstream music genres.  Most people only listen to music when they're in their vehicles.  So, they're only exposed to music that's popular.

True music lovers go out of their way to find good music.  They explore new different kinds of music by raiding local record stores, hitting up the live music venues and surfing the web.  Therefore radio is for people who don't listen to music.

Still not convinced that this phrase is true.  Well, I read an article on CMT.com a while back where it mentioned why Emmylou Harris is no longer played on country radio stations.  The article explained that her voice is too distinct and the words to her songs are too complicated and require careful listening.

Now if you are true music listener and a lover of music then you'll listen, interpret, feel and understand every word of the song and the emotion(s) the artist is pouring out.  Apparently, that's not what mainstream radio stations want to air out onto the radiowaves.  Hmmm...?!

So, this only further confirms my personal agreement to Scott Copeland's remarks of how radio is for people that don't listen to music!
