Artist of the Week:  Buddy Holly

Making thick rimmed, black glasses look cool wasn't the only thing that Buddy Holly left behind in this world.  Buddy Holly left us with great rock n' roll music that he wrote all by himself.

Buddy Holly was a Texas singer-songwriter from Lubbock, Texas and pioneered the era of rock n' roll, even though his successful career only lasted a little less than two years.  Holly was killed in an airplane crash in Iowa in 1959, when he was only 22 years old.

Recently, a Buddy Holly tribute album has been recorded called, "Rave On Buddy Holly".  Various artists are featured on the album, including:  Kid Rock, My Morning Jacket, Fiona Apple and Jon Brion, The Black Keys, Paul McCartney, Justin Townes Earle, Modest Mouse and many more.
