Artist of the Week: Kreayshawn
Not another Rebbecca Black!
No worries, Kreayshawn is not another pop artist like Rebecca Black with the song, "Friday". No, Kreayshawn is the real deal. She has already developed some street cred with her friends being Left Brain of Odd Future and directing videos for Lil B.
She's a white chick rapper, that hones to her own unique individuality with "swag pumping out her ovaries".
But she doesn't care if you don't like little white girls rapping. Kreayshawn is staying true to her own original self and doing what she loves and does best.
And don't worry she's not some random white chick rapping. She grew up in underprivileged neighborhoods in small town, underprivileged areas with a young, single, punk rocker mother. She grew up around crime, drugs and the “gangster” culture. So, her music and rapping does comes across as believable and sincere.
So, the lyric, “Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada", may have been stuck in your head for a while now and if it's not then it will be once you finish reading my blog post. The lyric is from Kreayshawn's song "Gucci, Gucci". A song that has a music video that has gone viral on the Internet.
Kreayshawn says here song is not really trying to say screw Louis' or Gucci., but just trying to say don't let the labels make you who you are. Sprinkle it in here and there, but have your own style."
Staying true to her self and doing things her way might just make Kreayshawn the newest rising music artist. And way better than Rebbecca Black.
