Artist of the Week:  Christina Perri

All righty, love or hate the song, Jar of Hearts, by Miss Christina Perri and/or love or hate that I'm posting her as artist of the week, you've got to admit the girl can write a hell of a song.

So, Christina Perri might be a mainstream artist or an emerging mainstream artist...more or less...I believe this girl has a knack for putting words together and saying exactly how she feels.  Not only does she write her own songs, but her singing is raw, emotional and gritty.  Definitely a different sound that's usually heard on commercial radio. 

Christina got her big break on So You Think You Can Dance, when she was asked to perform her original song, Jar of Hearts.  Singing that song propelled Christina's music career as it became an overnight success selling over a million downloads and landing Christina a record deal with Atlantic Records.     

Jar of Hearts, is only one of 12 songs that can be found on Christina's debut album, Lovestrong.  Christina says that the title of the album reflects how her heart feels today.  

Like I said love her or hate her this girl can write one hell of a song that is raw, emotional, heartfelt and really soulful.  If you don't believe me, just check out her music and if you didn't like her music to begin with...try listening to it again.  And really pay close attention to the words and then maybe you'll get it! lol
