Buddy Holly Would Have Been Rockin' It Out, Yesterday, At 75

Buddy Holly and his black, thick rimmed glasses would have still been rockin' it out, yesterday, September 7, 2011, as he would have been 75-years old.

September 7, 1936, is when Buddy Holly was born and tragically he passed away on February 3, 1959 in an airplane crash.  He was 23-years old.

Though Buddy Holly's time with us was short the impact he left on the world of music will never be less than sweet.

Now if you know me...my music education and knowledge is limited, but growing at an alarming rate, so beware! lol   But seriously, I did a little bit of investigating on why Buddy Holly was such an icon.  And here's what I learned.

Buddy Holly was a singer-songwriter from Lubbock, Texas.  (Ya, Texas!!!)  He was considered to be the single most influential creative force in early Rock n' Roll and also a pioneer of Rock n' Roll.

Buddy Holly was very well respected by so many musicians around his time and even still nowadays, because he actually wrote and performed his own songs and played on his own records rather than using studio players.  Around his era there were very few musicians that wrote and performed their own stuff.  (That still holds true today, too. lol)

Buddy Holly may not have lived to the full length of a typical lifetime, but he certainly lived the width of his life.
