Artist of the Week:  Joe Emmons

So, when I started this blog I messaged a few people and said if they were in a band or knew of band or a local artist they would like for me to promote on my blog, I would.  Well, I had a few suggestions for a friend of mine from back home in Warrick County, Indiana.  So, by popular demand here's his music stuff...the hometown guy, as most people have been putting it...Joe Emmons.

Joe Emmons is an extremely talented aspiring singer/songwriter from Boonville, Indiana.  He began his journey on the wicked twisted road of songwriting at the age of 16 and has ever since continuously tried to come up with new innovative songwriting material. His very truthful, soulful and honest singing and songwriting styles are a combination of acoustic, electric, folk and country influences.  I asked Joe if he had anything to add about his music and he provided a reason why he's involved in music, "Honestly, I do it because it's a blast for me and I love it.  If other people enjoy it I feel like that's just an awesome bonus."

Believe me, he is talented, because I checked out his playlist of songs on his myspace page and his singing and songwriting is absolutely soulful and honest.  Being truthful in your songwriting and singing is the best way to be if you're are going to perform and record your own music.  Because like Hunter S. Thompson said the truth is  a way better story than trying to make up one from your own imagination.  Same thing goes for songwriting.  If you write a song about something that really happened then your telling the truth and you don't have to be concerned with it being good or funny, because it's the truth.  And that's what Joe is doing with his songwriting...telling the truth.  So, here's to an incredible aspiring singer/songwriter...telling the 'truth' in his own way...Joe Emmons.
